“Life is a balance of holding on and letting go.” ~Rumi
It’s been quiet around here. Not in my head of course, but in my writing…in my love letter sending out into the world.
Rest assured. There is no lack of love. 💗 And I am ok. I’m just struggling to find a balance between holding on and letting go in life right now. This tension has rendered me a bit speechless.
I catch myself holding my breath more often than I’d like to admit. My mind stuck in circulating thoughts that cause constriction. My body bracing against it all.
I’ve been here before. I recognize this landscape. Maybe you have been here before too.
This is the dance of life. Each of us striving to find balance in holding on and letting go…in our relationships, our work, our passions, our past experiences, and beyond.
Sometimes this dance is more easeful. And then there are tricky spots…like “letting go” of a marriage, or a job…or when guiding children as they spread their wings to fly out into the world. In my home, the teen wing flapping has left me with feathers in my hair and up my nose…and a few have turned and pieced my heart. Hence the bracing.
Daily I attempt to soften. To breathe. I try to remember that “letting go” is a tough process for my fledglings too. That they are also bracing and balancing as they prepare to leave the nest. That this push and pull is a natural process in life.
Whatever you are working with right now…please know that you are not alone. We are all here together, striving to find balance, as we place one foot in front of the other. I’ll happily pull feathers out of your hair…or help you remove the armor you have built against this life. We can do it together, one feather, and one shared deep breath at a time.
If you need tools and a place to begin, I’d love for you to join me on the yoga mat.
Whether it’s the coming and going of thoughts, the inhale and the exhale of the breath, or the contraction and expansions of our muscles, yoga shines a light on our current state. Then it offers us a playground to create a balance of “holding on” and “letting go” in our mind, in our body, and in our being. If curious, check out, STUDIO TEN, my online yoga studio. I welcome you…and any questions you might have. Don’t hesitate to reach out.
love,
Tener
