(Yes, I just dated both of us—but honestly? We’ve earned the right to reference vintage bath products and not care.)
That little ad knew something timeless: sometimes you just need to be “taken away”. Not to skip the joys of the season—especially when the house smells like cookies, and the kids are home—but to give yourself a pause afterward. A moment to breathe, reset, and reconnect with yourself once all the holiday caring is done.
I absolutely love this time of year—especially here in Sun Valley, a true quintessential winter wonderland (fingers crossed for more snow this year). I love the lights, the smell of pine, the crackling fire, and the bustle of the house when the kids take over the kitchen. I savor it. I really do.
But when the holiday energy picks up, and my “to-do” list starts to feel endless, what keeps me from feeling overwhelmed is knowing Costa Rica is waiting for me in January!🌴
It’s not just a trip. It’s my exhale. My reset. The thing on the horizon that lets me say yes to one more cookie exchange (& cookie🍪), one more round of gift wrapping, one more everything that this season asks of us.
Over the years, my Costa Rica retreats have become one of the most meaningful parts of my life. Women arrive from near and far to this lush, warm corner of the world—trading cold winter for ocean breezes and jungle sounds. Some are here for the first time, and many return year after year. It’s become our annual pilgrimage: back to ourselves, back to each other, for connection, reflection, and reset.
We move, we breathe, we laugh until we cry, we sit in silence, we talk about the real stuff. We remember who we are underneath all the roles we play the other 51 weeks of the year. And somehow, in that shared space, everything else falls away.
January is the perfect time for a reset. The holidays are behind us, and the new year is wide open. We get to start strong—healthy, grounded, connected.
