Step into the New Year with Clarity
With Christmas holiday in the rearview mirror and just a few days between us and the start of a brand new year, I want to gently encourage you to pause and reflect on your last twelve months.
To bring more clarity and awareness into 2024, find a moment of stillness and ask yourself these questions:
- What was great about 2023?
- What was really hard about 2023?
- How did you manage to get through the challenges? Did you react, or did you respond?
- What did the challenges or hardships reveal? Where are you strong and creative, and where did let fear take over?
- What habits helped you in a positive way over the last year?
- What habits weren’t helpful and possibly were a detriment to your health and well-being?
- What realizations did you have about what is truly important to you?
- What do you want to let go of in 2023?
- What are you ready to commit to in 2024?
- How can you take one step toward the next best version of yourself?
Mulling these questions over allows us to bring awareness into 2024 and make conscious choices. You can take a walk to reflect, meditate on them, or consider journaling them out (which is my first choice). But whatever the process, keep it light.
After years of helping people make healthy, lasting lifestyle changes, I’m not a big fan of “resolutions,” which tend to be superficial and short-lived.
Instead, allow these questions to help you tap into yourself deeply and the inner commitment to yourself that comes from your authentic desires. From here, consider the long view and small ways to implement change steadily over time toward your goals. This mindset is a hell of a lot more manageable and sustainable…and will achieve greater success. And who amongst us doesn’t need to feel a little success? Anyone?
I’m cheering for you!
Sending such big love and support your way!
